Learning those bowed instruments involves a lot of screaching and blood-curdling sour notes. I took lessons for a little while on my grandmother\’s violin and tried to get somewhere with it for years but finally gave up. I think it takes more steady practice and dedication to sound OK on violin than it does for other instruments. You can borrow one of my grandmother\’s violins, just to find out if you like it, if you want to pick it up next time you happen to be going through \"Clinton Cornfields\” (you should be picturing a \"blink and you\’ll miss it\” village in upstate, New York). {chuckles…}
