Saturday Cheesecake
Date: March 27th, 2002
Time : 6:30am

On Saturday, Trish and the twins picked me up around noon'ish to have lunch at Mama Theresa's. It was great seeing them again since I hadn't seen them since summer (due to me working so much over winter break). Melissa joined up with us while we were ordering (she had overslept).

I ordered a slice of chicken marsala pizza and a side order of garlic knots which were HEAVENLY! Mmm. Oh why must delicious things be so bad for one's health?! It must be punishment for all our evilness in this world.

Good food and good company. What more could I ask for? We shared silly stories that had gone on the past semester at college, and basically caught up on a lot of life's little foibles.

After paying the bill, we stood outside for a few minutes pondering what to do. While we stood there, I caught sight of a familiar looking maroon hat with a logo on it... and it was none other than Danny C. (Megan C.'s younger brother)! He was wearing the Hick's hat which had caught my attention. It's been pratically two years since I last saw him. Major memories. I distinctly recall having a slight crush on him too! Whatever was I thinking?! He's a good 3-4 years younger than me. Bah. My excuse is that he looked older.

After grabbing Sonja and whispering in her ear, "OH MY GOD!!!!!! It's Megan C.'s brother!!!!!!" the lot of us burst into giggles. He had already gone into the restaurant and we didn't want to chase after him. It was so windy and chilly that we scurried to Trisha's car to decide on plans instead.

It took us nearly half an hour to figure out what to do, mainly because of two reasons. Number one being that we're so indecisive (some things really don't change)! Number two was because of the map in the back of the car! Since we were so indecisive, Silvia took the map out and started looking up stuff, which in turn led to looking up other stuff.. and so on and so on! Bah!

Melissa wanted to head on over to the mall so she could fix her nail but Trish wasn't really up for that. I wouldn't have minded either way... just any place other than sitting cramped in the car. In the end, it was decided that we'd head on over to Border's. It's been awhile since I even stepped foot in that store so I didn't particularly mind that plan.

After our arrival, I walked around for a bit on the main floor just looking at the bestsellers. That got boring quick because most of the books didn't appeal to me much. A few of my online friends had suggested some titles that sounded interesting so I looked them up, but were aghast at the prices which made me put them down ($8 for a series of 6 books.. oy!). Within a few minutes, I became engrossed in walking down the 'General Literature' aisle and forgot about the others.

I know I shouldn't have been spending what little money I have, but it was difficult to resist! I am a bookworm at heart! After reading the back cover of nearly every book that caught my attention, I finally settled upon John Irving's 'A Widow for One Year' and Anne Rice's 'Queen of the Damned.'

We must've spent around 2 hours at Border's, just meandering around looking at books. The last 45 minutes were spent in the reference section, looking at the graduate school and career manuals. !?#?@#$@ Jeez. What a way to kill/dampen everyone's moods. Books such as "What to do with a liberal arts education" and "Life after college" ... bah. I even picked up a few law school books and after reading a few pages, I was terrified.

What the fuck am I doing?! Will be doing?! Do I know what I want?!

No. No. No. No. No@#$#@#$

Sigh.

After being thoroughly depressed, we headed on over to Starbucks to visit Melissa (she had left us pre-Border's to goto work). I ordered a 'Caramel Macchiato' and a caramel cheesecake (which was from the Cheesecake factory!). Since the manager wasn't around, Mel only charged us $6 total for ALL our orders. Basically, I only paid $1.50 for my goods. w00tage.

Another two hours was just spent sitting at the coffeeshop, just talking and stuff. It felt so nice to be social, rather than be holed up in front of the computer.

Around 5:30, we got up to go because I had to be home by a quarter to 6 for dinner reservations @ Shiro's. And phew, did I barely make it home in time. Just as I walked in the door, the family was practically on their way out.

Dinner was fun. I got to sit next to Luke, who has grown so much since I last saw him. He keeps losing his baby features! Wahh...! I love teasing him and seeing him grrrrrrr at me! It's so adorable!

"Luke.. do you have a girlfriend yet?"

*grrrr* "NO, I HATE GIRLS!"

"Aww but I'm a girl. Do you hate ME?"

*looks baffled* But you're HUONGGGGGGGG!

Aw I love him so much. He's such a joy to me. The one great thing about kids is that they don't know much besides how you treat them. Luke doesn't see me for anything else except someone who adores him, and whom he adores back. No other fandango which boggles everything. He even begged me to come over to his house after dinner to play with him. Isn't that so adorable? I had to decline though because I was so tired.

Grandma and Grandpa seemed to enjoy the dinner. It was 'Hibachi' style which meant that the chef cooked the meals in front of us. When he lit the huge flame on the grill (mainly for display purposes, I don't think there was a need to actually have such a huge flame), Grandma got up and cowered against the wall. Awww! The waitresses also sang Happy Birthday to her as well after the meal was over.

We've come a long way from Vietnam, eh?

That was pretty much Saturday, in a nutshell.

Sunday & Monday was speng lazing around reading in bed mostly. Since Brother #3 is now on Spring Break, I get limited usage of computer time. Good thing I had some reading material, otherwise I'd go insane with boredom.

Yesterday, I walked to the mall and got my hair cut. It's been almost one year since I last did anything to my hair. That just about shows how lazy I am, and how little I have begun to care about myself. Sad innit? Anyways, my once elbow-length hair is now around chin-length. It's different. It is neither nor flattering nor too obtrusive, so whatever. As long as it's not in my way anymore.

Besides, maybe it'll pep me up. New hair, new lifestyle? :P

I also used up my gift certif @ Victoria Secret's. Bought 5 new bikini panties which I really don't need but what else do I want from VS? Everything else is way too expensive!

Money rules my life.
