my dorm

Since I’m still a minor, my mom signed the lease contract for me (June 1 till March 31, 2004) yesterday. My monthly rental is 4000 pesos or $75 inclusive of water and exclusive of electric charges. My dad was sorta freaking out that there’s an additional one time fee called depreciation cost ( $75 ). We found out that it’s like maintenance fee i.e. they clean our bathroom, our common area etc. Great! I don’t have to clean the toilets. Also, I’m applying for a Bayantel phoneline mainly for dialup connection. Installation costs 1,999 pesos or $ 37 and the monthly fee is 399 pesos or $7.00. A bonanza pre-paid internet card is around $2.00 for 20 hours.

Adding all that up, my parents will be spending something like $100 a month for the room, water , electricity and phone/internet connection. Hmm, I don’t know what my food expenses will be like since I can always cook in our kitchenette or bring pre-cooked meals from home. As for transportation, I can walk to the college since the campus gate is right across my dorm. But during rainy days, I can always take a tricyle which cost 10 pesos or 19 cents (one way).

I’ll start moving stuff on June 1 but I’ll have to coordinate with my 3 other roommates on how to furnish the kitchen. Who’s going to bring the refrigerator, electric stove etc? The best thing is I will have a new desktop with printer. Dad doesn’t want me to bring the laptop. There’s a cybercafe inside the building but I ‘ll save more with my own computer and internet connection . I’m sooo excited! Registration is June 9 and classes start on June 16.

dorm hunting

Tomorrow, I’m signing the contract together with my mom. I like my dorm. It’s big, bright, roomy, awesome view, new, and most of all, it’s air-conditioned.

my sister’s site

My sister’s domain was hacked by some Brazilian site. Now her blog doesn’t work . Cyberpixels said that Torgo’s security was compromised due to a kernel vulnerability. All sites on Torgo will be moved to a new server, Vierkant. In the meantime, you may notice either a defaced front page on your website, your b2 blog may not be working, or any MySQL DB content may be offline. My best guess is that the entire move will be finished within 72 hours, if not sooner.
