Cannibalism
All that cannibalism news is taking a toll in that quiet town . Media sensationalized it because it was just gross and shocking
Narra tourism officer Reynaldo de la Rosa complained that the incident occurred in the hinterlands of the town and that most residents would not even have learned of the crime had it not been for media reporting.
“The first media reports that came out weren’t too detailed. It made it look like it was part of our culture,” he said.
Bacuel said it was the first such case in the history of the town, some 650 kilometers (400 miles) west of Manila. Violent crime is rare in Narra and the last killing occurred last year during a drunken brawl, she remarked.

Record Rainfall
NO CLASSES TODAY!!! And why should there be? Yesterday, there was a 6 hour downpour that created swimming pools throughout major streets in Manila. The volume of rain matched that of the entire month of May. Whoa. It was so bad that this guy used his ski jet in front of the University of Santo Tomas. The flood in front of my school in Ateneo (Gate 2) wasn’t waist deep but it was knee-deep. Eeek
The downpour triggered floods up to waist deep at places and landslides in some areas, caused cancellation of school classes and forced closure of many offices. In some low-lying areas, residents fled to their rooftops.

A Suicide Note
Two months ago, I read “A Suicide Note” in the “Schools, Colleges, Universities Bulletin” in our national daily, the Manila Bulletin . I wrote a rebuttal to that article and it was finally published today, August 24, in Section D3 (Schools , Colleges , Universities Bulletin). Some of you might be surprised with my rebuttal but I couldn’t let this article pass off as gospel truth in a national daily . I didn’t expect it to be published but they called me a few days ago and even want me to be a regular contributor to the section,.
Here’s the link or read this article if you’re interested to read,
Somewhere in the mountains
Cris, my cousin is a youth delegate for “Rainbow Bridge in Kyrgyzstan", a Unicef and Meerim Foundation project. Yes, Kyrgyzstan (where is that?, you say)-so you can imagine how difficult it was for the travel arrangements! Cris and his classmate Hannah had to travel alone to Manila-Bangkok-Delhi then take Kyrgyz Air to Bishkek City. My aunt told me that she had to call Kyrgyzstan and Delhi to arrange for the purchase of their air tickets-in India-with a promise to reimburse the Kyrgyz embassy personnel. They arrived in Bishkek City yesterday, safe and sound. Cris will be back after 10 days of interacting with other teeners in a lakeshore campsite.

Happy 4th year anniversary to the Protagonist Community
Look at us! The Protagonist Forums is now 4 years old. Looking back at the history, we’ve achieved the 23 member target. Hehe. The forums were meant for my journal since there was no journalling or blog script (with comment features) during those days. I wanted to share visitor’s feedback of my entries because they were quite provocative and insightful.
Today, it has evolved as a community . My journal has a better script and it doesn’t need the forums anymore . Anyway, thanks for being part of our community. Join our CONTEST: Protagonist Postagathon 2004 and win a SIMS 2!
