My dad is a techie now
My dad is somewhere in Bicol and he’s supposed to arrive today but he’s waitlisted for his flight . There is only one flight today. *damn* I rely on him to proofread the grammar of my Filipino paper because I am absolutely terrible in Filipino. I got an F in my first paper. I have two papers due tomorrow. He sends me an SMS message to email the papers at his gmail account in case he can’t make the flight. He said he can check it in the internet cafe. Awww…he’s gone techie. Really, there was a time that I had to open the email program for him. He apparently loves his gmail account.

Disappointed with the New Invision Power Board Services
Matt Mecham had always said that his forums will always be free . You know, he’s still the lead developer of the script. Four years later, “The downloadable free trial of Invision Power Board has been removed and replaced with a free, 15 day demo hosted account to try out the software.”

Linksys
We’re finally installing a wireless router but the problem is, the walls in our house are THICK as in…we can’t even receive SMS in certain parts of the house. So many dead spots that sometimes to make a cellphone call, we have to go to the porch. Bah. So it’s only the laptop that will probably go wireless.

Amazing Race 5

Just finished watching the replay of the Philippines’ portion of the Amazing Race Season 5 which was also the 11th episode and final segment of the season. Chip and Kim won 1 million dollars. Thanks to luck. The “interesting” parts of the Philippines’ segment were:
1. Colin plowing the ricefield in circles and saying “"oh my god, I hate you.” to the poor carabao. ( This was so funny)
2. Christie told the jeepney driver to RUN OVER the people that were in the middle of the street! Ugh what a stupid thing to say! Greediness and arrogance at its best.
3. spotting for the right Philippines flag (No one got it the first try) and one contestant saying “I blame it on being an ignorant American”
What is amazing is they travelled through six continents in 29 days.

Russian Chocolate
My cousin gave me some Russian Chocolate. It’s white chocolate but the taste is not really special. I like the crunchiness though.

JPEG security vulnerability
You better read this:
“A new critical security vulnerability has been discovered by Microsoft that could enable software viewing JPEG image files (.JPG) to launch malicious code on a user’s computer. The security hole could be exploited by hackers or a future internet worm.
Microsoft is recommending that customers patch their computers against the security vulnerability immediately.
“JPEG images are commonly used for graphics on websites and digital photographs so this vulnerability is extremely serious,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. “The message, however, is not to panic but to calmly patch your computers now before a virus writer or hacker tries to exploit the loophole and attack innocent users’ computers.”
A technical bulletin at www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-028.mspx describes the latest security problem in detail and includes links to patches supplied by Microsoft. “
