Third Culture Kids

From Newsweek, January 27 ,2003 Asia Edition:

Called third culture-kids - or TCK’s - these children of diplomats, aid workers, missionaries, military personnel, journalists, academics and business executives are being raised in a culture that lies somewhere between their parents’ native one (first culture) and that of the country where they are based (the second culture)

My kids will be TCK’S if I intend to pursue my dream of being a diplomat or an expat. And if I marry someone outside my ethnicity, would that be a third culture for my future kids (?). If people ask where they come from, they’d say “I ‘m from the world” . Cool, huh?

sounds a lot like me. I\’ve got a lot of different cultures mixed in me because of my heritage (filipino and american) and because of the different places i\’ve lived (hong kong, philippines, u.s.a)
